Description

This museum is located in the former main street for the Jewish Quarter in Buda where the remains of a synagogue have been discovered, witnessing the presence of a Jewish community. Expelled from Hungary in 1360, the Jews returned to Buda in 1386 and established their homes in this quarter. But not for long… Two Gothic pillars divide the prayer hall. You can see from the inscriptions from the 17th Century on the walls and some tombstones taken from an ancient Jewish cemetery.
