Name: House of Hungarian Photography
Category: Museums and art
Location: 1065 Budapest, Nagymező utca 20.
Description
The house where the distinguished Hungarian photographer Mai Manó once lived now houses a photography museum in the heart of the theatre district. Temporary photography exhibitions – both Hungarian and foreign – are organised in this beautiful late-19C building, which features a magnificent stairwell with a wrought-iron banister, frescoes, stuccowork, Miksa Róth stained-glass windows and a glass-roofed studio. The view of the Operetta Theatre opposite transports visitors back to the time of Mai Manó.
